Having been in private practice for over 40 years I have seen thousands of patients, .most wanting to be healthier, but do they really?
When you go to a doctor, usually you have some concern about your health with a few that believe by going to the doctor on a regular basis you are going to stay healthy. That is not always the case. Many times you are really ASKING the doctor to find something wrong and if he does not he may consider having failed in treating you.
From here you will have tests of all kinds, physical, blood, urine, and maybe even X-rays. When reviewed there are the "norms" that you will be compared with and then you will be told that you have "high" blood pressure, or "high" cholesterol, or other levels of testing that are not in the "normal" range determined by medical society.
The danger is not that you will catch something early and get necessary treatment "in time", but that these symptoms of change might be treated "too soon" and with the wrong things causing other problems, some more serious that the one you were diagnosed with and now labeled.
There is an old saying "the cure is worse than the malady"! This is often the case in the world of drugs. We have been educated that there is a drug for just about any and all problems. What we are not educated about is the damage these drugs due to our system. Here is where we have a major health choice.
Yes, CHOICE, a decision we make regarding our health. I have told patient when they ask me about "What can I do?" I tell them there are three things they can do.
First: Nothing and the problem will get worse!
Second: They can be a "passive" patient. One who things something or someone is going to do it for them. These are patients who will lay down on the table and allow the surgeon to take out their organs, and the medical doctor to give them drugs to cover up the symptoms, the primary objective of most drugs, and in most cases the conditions will get worse.
THIRD: This is the best way to be, the ACTIVE PATIENT. The one who truly takes better care of themselves by making better choices in their care and in the way they direct their lives. This person sees the symptoms as a sign there might not be the balance in the body that it needs and will do things to change it. This patient will change their diet to reduce the harmful nutrients that are perhaps being consumed in to high amount, i.e. too much sugar, fat, or other things that might be adding to the imbalance from their tests. This is the patient who will improve their resistance by taking immune boosting products such as TRANSFER FACTOR instead of believing that the drug industries answers are better than natural health. This patient will take larger amounts of Transfer Factor and better nutrition instead of the FLU SHOT for the common flu or the over hyped "swine flu".
This patient will take care of their human frame to make sure it is working better by going to a chiropractor for adjustments, and will eat healthier foods, will reduce the stress in their lives and will exercise more.
These are the healthy choices that an active patient will make. Remember that Dr. Oz recently mentioned on TV that 80% of our chronic conditions come from making bad choices. Finally there are more and more medical doctors who are abandoning the conventional dictates of their profession and recognizing what chiropractors, nutritional experts, and other alternative health care professionals have known for decades,
