can i swim for exercise?
I recently had an amputation on my pinky toe due to my dumb ass dropping something on it.
being diabetic it has taken time to heal. i recently was walking on treadmill and it has just
extended healing time. i need to burn calories though cause i have gained 16 pounds
from just being home. ( 6' 230 now) i have even cut meals to one or two a day.
i have access to a full gym in nieghborhood , but need to burn calories rather than lift wieghts.
the week i was on the treadmill my sugar was perfectly under control and i did not need my meds but my foot wasnt getting better. Is swimming( which i can do) the best way for cardio now?
PLEASE HELP - Best Answer to be chosen tonight.
Sabu,
As a diabetic you know perfectly well you cannot skip meals. Swimming is great exercise, but does your foot have an open wound? Can you swim and not get your foot area wet?
Can you do a reclining bike for exercise. I understand the importance of keeping your weight under control, as well as your blood sugar under control. If you do not get enough nutrition, you will also slow your healing process. Make sure you take vitamins and eat more protein to encourage and promote healing.
Water aerobics is also great if you can get your foot wet.
If you go to the gym, rowing is another option.
